Frequently Asked Questions

The Only Number That Matters Is Downtime

An office move isn't priced or planned on volume. It's planned on how many working hours you can afford to lose, and everything else follows from that answer. So the first question at survey is when your people need to be productive again, and the whole schedule is built backwards from it.

In practice, for most teams, that means loading on a Friday evening, moving overnight or through Saturday, and having desks placed and ready before Monday morning. A weekday move is possible and it is almost always more expensive in lost work than a weekend costs in premium. We will do a weekday if you need one and we will tell you honestly what it is likely to cost you in hours.

Work backwards from Monday rather than forwards from Friday. Offices that plan forwards run out of Sunday, and running out of Sunday means people arriving to a room full of unplaced furniture and a morning spent shifting desks instead of working.

Sequencing, and the Hour That Saves the Most Time

Desks and seating go first, because nothing else can be placed until they're down. Storage and files follow. Screens and IT equipment travel last and arrive first at the new site, so whoever is doing the technical setup isn't sat waiting on a truck.

Every desk and storage unit gets numbered against a floor plan before anything moves, with the number somewhere a person carrying it can actually see. That hour of preparation is the highest value work anybody does on an office move. Without it, placement at the far end is guesswork and somebody spends Monday moving furniture.

Nominate one person to be present with authority to decide. An office move throws up fifty small questions, where does this go, is this being kept, whose is this box, and on a house move the owner answers them without thinking. On an office move, if nobody has been given the authority to answer, the crew stops and waits, and that is expensive by the hour.

Where Our Job Stops on IT, and Why We Hold That Line

We move machines, monitors, cabinets and cabling safely and carefully. We do not disconnect a server, unrack anything, or reconnect a network. That is your IT team's work or your vendor's, and a mover who offers to do it is either quietly subcontracting it or about to cost you a great deal more than they saved you.

Book your technical people for the same weekend and give them our timings in writing. The commonest reason a Monday start slips isn't the move at all, it's that the network was scheduled for Monday morning on the assumption everything else would be finished. Have them there Sunday afternoon, once the equipment has landed.

Label cables at both ends before they come out, or photograph the back of every machine. It takes an hour and it saves an afternoon, and the person who reconnects it is frequently not the person who took it apart.

Building Permissions, Which Take Days Rather Than Hours

A weekend office move usually needs specific approval from the building: an out of hours entry, a nominated service lift, and often security cover outside normal times. All three are decisions made by a facilities team that doesn't work weekends either, so they get asked on a Tuesday.

Commercial buildings are used to this and will almost always agree. What they will not do is arrange it on a Friday afternoon for a Saturday morning, and a crew stood outside a locked service entrance is the most expensive way there is to discover that.

Ask for the permitted hours in writing, and confirm the lift booking separately from the gate access. They are usually held by different people, and having one without the other is worth almost nothing.

What Office Relocation Costs

JobPriceWhat decides it
Office relocation, any sizeAfter SurveyPriced on downtime and desk count rather than volume. Never quoted over the phone.
Small team or startup floorAfter SurveyTypically a single overnight shift. Your own team handles the technical setup.
Weekend or overnight shiftAfter SurveyThe normal choice. Costs a premium and usually saves more in working hours.
Weekday move during business hoursAfter SurveyPossible, and we will tell you what it is likely to cost in lost work first.
Staff household moves alongside an office move₹6,000 – ₹10,500Ordinary residential rates per household, invoiced to the company if you need.
Company vehicles moved with the office₹6,000 – ₹12,000Per car. Bikes are Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,500 and often travel with the load.

Local moves start at ₹2,999. Interstate work is charged on distance bands of ₹15 to ₹28 per KM depending on the distance, quoted separately from the load so you can see both figures.

What Office Relocation Does Not Include

Worth reading before you book. A mover who tells you this afterwards has cost you a day.

  • We do not disconnect or reconnect servers, racks or networks. Book your IT team or vendor for the same weekend and share our timings with them.
  • We do not decommission or dispose of old furniture and equipment. We are movers rather than a clearance or asset disposal service.
  • We do not do electrical work. Fixed wiring, new sockets and floor boxes need a licensed electrician, booked separately.
  • We do not guarantee a Monday start if the building refuses out of hours access. That permission is yours to obtain and it takes days.
  • We do not decide what is being kept. Nominate one person with the authority to answer that on the day, or the crew waits.

More Questions About Office Relocation

How long will our office be shut?

That is the number everything else gets planned around, so tell us what you can bear rather than asking us what it will be. Most teams load Friday evening, move overnight or Saturday, and are placed and ready before Monday. A weekday move usually costs more in lost work than a weekend does in premium.

Do you handle our IT disconnection?

No. We move machines, monitors, cabinets and cabling safely, and we stop there. Servers, racks and network reconnection belong to your IT team or your vendor. Anybody offering to do all of it is either subcontracting quietly or about to cost you far more than they saved.

How do you make sure the desks end up in the right places?

Every desk and storage unit is numbered against a floor plan before anything moves, with the number where a person carrying it can see it. That hour is the highest value work on the whole job. Without it the placement is guesswork and somebody spends Monday shifting furniture.

Why will you not quote an office move over the phone?

Because it is priced on downtime and desk count rather than on volume, and neither of those is answerable from a phone call. Anybody who does quote it blind is guessing, and the guess gets corrected on the day when your negotiating position has gone.

What do we need from the building?

Out of hours entry, a nominated service lift and often security cover outside normal times, and all three take days rather than hours. Ask on a Tuesday for a Saturday. Get the permitted hours in writing and confirm the lift separately from the gate, because different people usually hold them.

Who should be there on the day?

One person with authority to decide. An office move generates fifty small questions and if nobody can answer them the crew stops, which is expensive by the hour. On a house move the owner does this naturally; on an office move it has to be nominated in advance.

How far ahead should we book?

Three weeks. The move itself is a weekend, but the floor plan, the numbering, the building permissions and your IT team's availability are four separate diaries and they all have to line up on the same two days.
